Corona is BEGGING for a home!

Corona here, reporting in for "Straight from the Rescues’ Mouths." Don't fret, folks, Samson is doing just fine! He kindly offered me the chance to provide this month's update because, well, it's all about me. Now, I'm not one to usually talk about myself, but I'll give it my best shot and be completely honest. Let's dive in. I'm an 18-year-old Paint gelding. I arrived at Illinois Horse Rescue of Will County in December 2020 because my previous owners were relocating abroad. Since then, I've made quite a few friends here. My human pals quickly noticed that I was experiencing discomfort in my feet whenever I ventured outside. Our veterinarian conducted x-rays and a lameness exam, diagnosing me with navicular syndrome. It means I won't be able to handle strenuous riding, but I can do some light flat work with a lightweight rider or happily retire. Thanks to daily medication and specialized shoes with pads, my pain is currently under control.

I'm best suited for an advanced beginner rider, although I can be a bit finicky on the ground, making me a better match for an intermediate horseperson. One thing to note is that I don't always get along with every horse I meet; some try to push me around, and I can get a bit upset.

On the brighter side, I absolutely love spending time being groomed and playing with toys or anything I find amusing. I have a knack for opening gates when my human friends aren't looking, but I'm a perfect gentleman when it comes to loading onto a trailer.

Now, here's the tough part. I understand that I might have some health and personality traits that make me less desirable compared to other rescues who find homes more quickly. I've been patiently waiting for my forever home for 1,017 days, and I really don't want to hold the record for the longest-waiting horse. My adoption fee is just $500, and if you have any questions or are interested in welcoming me into your family, please don't hesitate to call at 708-258-3959.

Thank you for taking the time to hear my story, and be sure to check in next month for the latest updates from "Straight from the Rescues’ Mouths" with Samson. Also, please consider sponsoring me today—every dollar truly makes a difference!
