This is Samson checking in for Straight from the Rescues’ Mouths. I’m so happy that Spring is finally here! All the animals here at the barn are so excited that the cold weather is done for awhile and we can play outside without being cold. Even the volunteers are happy that they can take off their winter gloves and don’t need to break the ice out of our water buckets every day! We have tons of GREAT stuff being planned, I can’t wait to tell you all about it.
On a more serious note:
We sent out a mailer last month asking for donations to help us meet our $3,000 goal so that me and all the other rescues could get our Spring Vet care done. While we are very, very thankful for the donations we did receive, sadly we came in just under halfway to our goal. Regular vet care is essential to keeping us healthy so please remember that no donation is too small, even $5 or $10 donations will add up to helping us to get and stay healthy!
Exciting News!!
I’m so excited to tell you that (drum roll, please!). Help a Horse Day is back!!!! You heard me right. Our Help a Horse Day Fundraiser will be on April 30th, 10am-3pm. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year so we are working hard to prepare to have everyone come to visit us and participate in all of the fun activities. There will be pony rides, a petting zoo, horse grooming, face painting, crafts and farm games and many other fun activities to do. I can’t wait to meet you all in person, (well, donkey) and introduce you to all the other rescues! So check out the flyer on our website and mark the date on your calendar!!! That is all for this month. Check back next week for another update with Straight from the Rescues’ Mouths.
P.S. We are in need of more volunteers so check the “How you can help” section on our website to learn how to apply! https://www.illinoishorserescue.org/volunteer
